Cliffside

This small gritty ward is carved into the lower edge of Dura and overlooks the river docks below. It’ rough and poor, filled with sailors and dockworkers. On the other hand, some people swear that Cliffside has the finest taverns in Sharn.

Smoky Towers, Middle Menthis

Smoky Towers is in some ways an extension of the Torchlight district directly below it, perhaps slightly better off in general but not much different in essentials. Smoky Towers is the entertainment district of Middle Menthis, known for dinner theaters, recital halls, and one grand theater. It presents a grade of entertainment that falls between the burlesque of Torchlight and the classical drama of the University District—affordable yet respectable, accessible yet thoughtful.

Starfire Dragon: The Starfire Dragon offers a steady diet of entertainment accompanied by exquisite meals. In this case, however, the entertainment clearly takes a back seat to the food. Trying to compete in a crowded market, the Starfire Dragon’s owner has hired excellent cooks to prepare an exotic menu.

High Hold, Upper Dura

The architecture in Highhold is sturdy, functional stone, though the scale is slightly too small for most humans. While there is luxury to be found here, the citizens put work before play. The inns and taverns serve strong Mror ale and stonebreaker mead, and most of the buildings and furnishings are built to dwarven proportions.

Beyond the dwarves, there are a considerable number of gnomes in the district, reflecting the strong economic ties between House Sivis and House Kundarak. Businesses in Holdfast include a branch of the Kundarak Bank and a Sivis message station. There are also restaurants serving Mror food, and a variety of other crafters, including master masons, architects, and armorers.

Highhold Outpost. The Boromar outpost is an imposing three-story structure tucked into the reaches made of fine dwarven stonework.

Warehouse District, Lower Dura

Lower Dura is a dark and dangerous place that has largely been left to fester and rot while the miserable poor struggle to get by. Street violence by amateurs and criminal gangs are a common site, much more than the Sharn Watch.

House Cannith South has quietly acquired an unmarked warehouse in a seedy neighborhood of the dingiest district in Sharn. This warehouse looks unassuming, but it’s filled to the brim with magewright researchers looking for new ways to create warforged and other war automata.

Little Plains, Middle Menthis Plateau

Little Plains is not the only halfling neighborhood in Sharn, but it is the only district almost entirely inhabited by halflings and the only significant concentration west of the Mournland of halfling immigrants from the Talenta Plains. Even the architecture suggests the maintenance of these halflings' traditional ways, since the towers resemble the city of Gatherhold in Talenta. More urbanized halflings live in Little Plains as well, as do some few members of other races (primarily gnomes and some kobolds).

Far Hearth Villa. A faux-rustic villa in Little Plains, it is the home of Counselor Ilyra Boromar, city counselor and member of the Boromar clan.

Blackbones, the Cogs

Blackbones is located under Tavick’s Landing, and stretched west toward the center of Sharn. In most respects it is similar to Ashblack; it is slightly newer, and the corridors are a little wider and better lit. Like Ashblack, there are a considerable number of warforged laborers in this district, and a few businesses have sprung up around these constructs.

Terminus, Lower Tavick’s Landing

Terminus is defined by Terminus Station, the massive House Orien enclave that serves as an endpoint for the lightning rail line with multiple termini that can take one across Khorvaire. It is a hotbed of activity, and despite the presence of the Sharn Watch and the Guardians of the Gate, pickpockets and other thieves operate freely.

Terminus itself offers a host of inns, restaurants, taverns, and other basic services for the traveler who doesn’t want to enter greater Sharn, but none are notable for quality or value. In addition to House Orien, Sivis, Deneith, Lyrandar, and Vadalis all have enclaves in this district.

Fallen, Lower Dura

Fallen is the worst district in a bad ward. Once a temple district over a century ago, it is now a ruined slum. Further destroyed by the collapse of The Glass Tower in 918 YK, the district is known for its poverty and for the “ravers,” madmen who claim to be able to communicate with the restless dead that still haunt the area of the collapse.

The Bazaar, Middle Dura

The Bazaar is the largest commercial district in Sharn, a labyrinth sprawling across a dozen towers. Almost anything can be found in this district, though the quality of any particular item or service cannot be guaranteed. Of the four markets of Sharn, the Bazaar has the highest concentration of criminal activity, both for hire and actively practiced against shoppers.

Broken Arch, Middle Dura

Broken Arch was once a higher-class residential neighborhood, but now it is mostly made of rows of cracked stone houses circle the central towers of this district. The streets are largely quiet and empty, but since it houses few socially important residents, Watch patrols are lighter than in the other districts and criminals from Lower Dura often frequent the alleys of Broken Arch and to prey on the honest citizens.

Callestan, Lower Dura

Lower Dura is a dark and dangerous place that has largely been left to fester and rot while the miserable poor struggle to get by. Street violence by amateurs and criminal gangs are a common site, much more than the Sharn Watch. Callestan is a district of inns and taverns for the poor serving as a center for illegal trade and activity. The people who come to stay in the inns of Callestan sacrifice comfort to avoid the watchful eyes of the law, and many crooked deals are arranged in its dark taverns.

Rat’s Paw. The Rat’s Paw is a ramshackle one room public house in the Callestan District of Lower Dura. It is run by Alfler Kembler, who pays protection to Clan Boromar. Tars Graccen the House Orien courier used to drink there.

Azure, Skyway

Skyway is a district that floats above the city between Central Plateau and Menthis Plateau on an island of solidified clouds. It consists of two Districts: Azure to the south and Brilliant to the north. It is home to the estates of some of the wealthiest people on the continent. The people here decide the social, political, and religious fates of much of the world.
